IT may sound awe-inspiring but downloading (transferring) files (that's what eBooks and programs are) from one computer to another is very straightforward.
The commercial sites you download from will guide you most of the way, and you will be feeling pleased and confident until asked whether you want to view the file in its present location, or save it to disk (your hard drive).
Click to indicate you want to save it to disk and you will then be asked where you want to save the file. For goodness sake make a note of the instructions you give here. It is very frustrating to complete a download only to find you have mislaid it 'somewhere' It is a good idea to save all your downloads to a specific 'download' folder.
Once the download is complete you will be asked whether you want to open and install the program immediately (more double clicking), or you can decide to do this later.
By following these somewhat sketchy instructions I am sure your natural cunning will ensure you get there. However I hope you will now whisk yourself via download to the the Newbie Club's tutorial, which will not cost you anything.
These clear, user-friendly instructions set out everything you need to know about downloading. In addition the tutorial is illustrated so, when you come to do your first download, you will have seen all the dialogue boxes before. It also contains information about compressed files.
Please don't ignore the helpful hints on how to organise all your downloads. I am still trying to sort out the mess on my computer, after two years of downloading, haphazardly.
